2024 Volleyball Registration Packet
“But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint”
Isaiah 40:31
Welcome to the 2024 WINGS Athletics! WINGS Athletics is moving into its 12th season. WINGS remains deeply rooted in a solid foundation of faith! We have built a community, a family, where you and your student can belong. We offer a variety of sports all year, but we are one team: WINGS!
Playing for WINGS is more than showing up at practice and at games. It means that you want to improve yourself as a person. It means that you are signing up to learn how to push yourself to your limit and beyond. Playing sports, like life, is often difficult. Learning how to push through those tough times, to persevere, to endure without quitting is a lesson that will serve you well not just through the Volleyball season but for life.
WINGS athletes are expected to honor the Lord at all times through their action, speech and conduct. They should exhibit excellent morals while maintaining good grades. We will approach each game with these same values. Together we will “give thanks to the Lord, call upon His name” and “seek the Lord and His strength; seek His face continually.” (Psalms 105:1,4).
He has created in us magnificent bodies and we will learn to glorify Him through our bodies. We will push His creation to new limits to show just how great our Creator is. “But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint”- Isaiah 40:31
WINGS Volleyball Financial Commitment 2024
Staffing a Volleyball team requires considerable resources. Listed below are the numerous supplies and equipment which must be secured each season. We are proud to say that WINGS is the most affordable program of its caliber in the Coastal Bend, but even at the current rates, we will need multiple fundraising events to cover all the costs. Our fundraising goal is to end the year with a surplus which will be enough to defray some of these costs next year
Financial commitment for 2024 WINGS Volleyball Spring Training season will be $210.00. This fee includes:
- Insurance
- Medical Supplies
- League Fees
- Coaches Shirts
- Gym Rental Fees
- Equipment
- Uniforms (two jerseys, and shorts)
Please contact us with any questions regarding this packet.

The purpose of this document is to give the Head Coach/Director or Athletic Director of Corpus Christi WINGS the power and authority to consent to medical treatment for my child.

2024 WINGS Parent and Player Commitment
|
-
Anything done without integrity will be falsely gained; it will not honor God, my family, my coaches, or my teammates. I will act with integrity.
-
As with any other undertaking, I’ll get out of this Volleyall season what I put into it. Dedicated, consistent, and intense training will result in a well-conditioned athlete. I commit to being on time, ready to play, and bringing intensity to practice and games.
-
Focused effort in practice - understanding concepts and techniques as well as repeating exercises and drills perfect will result in confident execution on game day. I will be prepared and focused for practice and games. I will be self-disciplined in practice, and accountable for my actions.
-
I commit to being respectful to coaches and officials, and the authority of their positions. I commit to be respectful of my teammates and display good sportsmanship to my opponents.
-
Referees are our guests, charged with being all-seeing and unbiased. Their humanity guarantees that they will err. I commit to remaining self-controlled, and overcoming the missed calls with execution and mental toughness. I recognize that some things are out of my control and I commit to focus on only the things I can control.
-
I commit to honor God, family, and team with my passion for the game. I will honor the rules, referees, and will conduct myself with humility toward opponents, their fans, and their coaches.
-
I commit to not using foul language or making slanderous comments towards coaches, teammates, opponents, referees, parents, or fellow students.
-
I commit to not using illegal drugs or abusing prescription or over the counter medications.
CONDUCT AND BEHAVIOR AT PRACTICES AND TRAINING
Similar conduct and behavior is expected by all at practices and training sessions as well. Additionally, it should be understood that our training time with the athletes is as much about discipleship as it is about our sport, if not more so. To accomplish our goals with the athletes requires a great deal of focus and effort. Every effort should be taken by all to prevent distractions from this process. Once an official training session has started, parents, siblings, and any other non-participant should remain well back of the training areas until the training session is completed. Any needs of communication with an athlete or coach during this time should be taken to one of the designated administrators who can manage the need and facilitate communication with the player or coach as necessary.
Guidelines for athletes:
- No use of cell phone or other electronic devices during practice or a game, unless specified by a coach or it is an emergency. ALL social media use and/or texting must reflect godly character.
- Arrive to practice in appropriate attire: shorts, t- shirt or tank-top and athletic shoes. Hair pulled back. No bare midriffs or short-shorts. Volleyball shorts required for modesty. Also, please no writing on your hands at games.
- Arrive to games in FULL UNIFORM and have all equipment.
- Fingernails must be cut short.
- No jewelry or gum at practices and games. Also, please no writing fake tattoos on your arms/hands at games. No facial jewelry permitted when in WINGS attire.
CODES AND STANDARDS
All students and their families voluntarily accept the behavioral standards set by HOST WINGS Athletics and associated league (if applicable). Students should understand and respect the guiding rules of HOST WINGS Athletics and associated league (if applicable). All students are expected and encouraged to exercise personal self-discipline, restraint, and genuine kindness and respect towards other students and persons in authority (board, committee, administration, coaches, other players, volunteers, parents, and others). They are expected to speak only wholesome things to build one another up. Students should make good choices, always maintain appropriate-ness and model good character. They should show trustworthiness in their words and actions, with the understanding that the administration will hold each student accountable. Students are responsible for maintaining a good witness by not using tobacco, alcoholic beverages, or drugs, by not frequenting questionable places in person or on the internet, and by not acting in any way as to bring dishonor, reproach, or shame to God, family, school, church, or community. In dealing with any offense that may arise, it is the desire and expectation of this ministry that the Biblical approach to discipline be applied. Even as the Father disciplines in love, so the administration of HOST WINGS Athletics will endeavor to discipline with a tender heart and Christian love. Correction and chastening are essential parts of genuine love. The child who learns obedience to authority (parents, administration, coaches, etc.) is developing a lifestyle that encourages obedience to God and His Word. Appropriate action will be taken if athletes use poor judgment in their conduct.
I understand that violation of any of these commitments will result in my indefinite suspension from WINGS Athletics.

Parent involvement is crucial to the success of WINGS Athletics. We believe participation in athletics provides unique and lasting opportunities for personal growth and character development. Our goal is to guide young people in building strong values and a winning attitude they will carry with them for a lifetime.
Great things are happening with WINGS, and we hope you are as excited as we are about the bright future for this organization. There are ample opportunities to get involved! In addition to game day volunteers, we also have several year-round positions available for individuals.
Why should you volunteer?
Unlike public school programs, we are not taxpayer subsidized and receive no public funding. All team equipment and every facility we use is provided through fundraising, donations, or is purchased by parents and coaches. As a private, non-profit organization, operated entirely by volunteers, we are able to offer parents the promise that every dollar you raise or donate will directly benefit your children. Working together, we can achieve these goals. With this in mind, part of each family’s commitment to WINGS will be mandatory participation in fundraisers and events.
Because WINGS relies 100% on volunteers, we ask that every family commit to at least 5 hours of volunteer service. It’s easy! We will all be at the games with our children, and many hands make light work. Please reach out to us to make arrangements to sign-up or donate.
Thank you for continuing to bless WINGS with your prayers, your presence, your gifts, your service, and your witness. Parent volunteers are the lifeblood of this organization and we are so glad you’re here!
Please sign below to signify that you have read and understood the volunteer requirements, and that you are willing to commit to (5) hours of volunteering,
